Most online Dutch courses are just regular lessons held over Zoom. You sit, you listen, you maybe answer a question here and there, and you leave without having really spoken Dutch at all. That's exactly why SociaTaal exists.
We offer online Dutch courses for every type of learner. Whether you like the energy of a small group course, rather work one-on-one, learn entirely at your own pace, or are ready to push past B1 and finally reach real fluency, there is a path here that fits you. All of them share the same philosophy: learning Dutch with a real focus on you and your progress, maximizing your speaking time in the lessons.
Most of our students are internationals living in the Netherlands who are tired of nodding along in conversations, want to feel more at home, or simply know that speaking Dutch will open doors, at work, with neighbours, or just at the local bakery. Whatever your reason, it is a good one.
Learning Dutch (NT2) online does not have to feel lonely or slow. In our small groups from 4-6 students, our teachers know your name and your difficulties and our modern course system is built to learn Dutch online, not to adapt in-person classes while keeping the same methodology.

Yes, when they are built for it. Most online Dutch courses simply move a classroom lesson to Zoom, which does not work well. SociaTaal's courses are designed specifically for online learning: small groups of 4 to 6 people, a modern platform, materials built for digital interaction, and a format that maximises speaking time. Our students consistently make more progress than they would in a physical classroom. And don't forget: it saves you commute time that you could be using to study!

Every path combines live online Dutch classes with video lessons, interactive exercises, and a structured course system — all in one place. You will have lifetime access to all materials, so you can revisit anything at any time.
If you want an intensive, 1 on 1 program with more customization, go for Private. If you enjoy learning with others and want live group practice, our online Dutch group courses are a great fit. The group courses are also beneficial because you can learn from others questions, mistakes and explanations. If you're past our B1+ course, then you can join our B2Fluency community, which aims to bring you to Dutch fluency.
Not at all. Videos are only one part of how we teach Dutch NT2 online. You also get interactive exercises, writing practice, feedback from your coach, and live sessions depending on your path. It is active learning, not passive watching.
We give you the structure, the coaching, and the speaking practice to get there — but fluency also depends on using Dutch in real life outside of class. Our goal is to give you the skills and confidence to speak Dutch naturally, and most students notice a real difference within the first few weeks.
Each online Dutch course runs for 6 weeks, with two 2-hour live classes per week. Most students progress one CEFR level per course. Getting from complete beginner to B1 level typically takes around 9 to 12 months of consistent learning — though this varies depending on your study time, starting level, and how much Dutch you practise outside of class.
You can get by in English in most Dutch cities, but speaking Dutch opens doors that English simply does not. It helps massively professionally, speeds up your integration, and makes daily life — from dealing with your gemeente to chatting with neighbours — significantly easier.
